The mayor of Lviv does not trust Donald Trump's assurances. Warns residents


“It is not my role to predict missile strikes or comment on loud declarations of an energy truce. (…) We have an enemy who can use [mrozy] and try to hit the critical infrastructure of our cities,” wrote the mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadowy, on Thursday on social media, referring to Donald Trump's announcement that Russia would temporarily suspend shelling.
The politician noted that, fearing Russian shelling, the city authorities had launched “preparation mode for an emergency situation” and the services “know what to do.”

Andriy Sadowy also asked residents to check the availability of the nearest shelters, charge power banks and stock up on food, drinking water and medicines. He also appealed to determine whether there are people in their buildings who cannot move independently and to trust only official sources of information.

“An important statement by US President Donald Trump regarding the possibility of ensuring the safety of Kiev and other cities of Ukraine from Russian strikes during these winter frosts. Energy is the basis of life and we appreciate the efforts of our partners to help us protect life,” wrote Volodymyr Zelensky on the X platform.
“Thank you, President Trump. The teams of Ukraine, the US and Russia discussed this in the Emirates. We hope that the arrangements will be implemented. De-escalation actions contribute to real progress towards ending the war,” added the Ukrainian president.

Donald Trump said on Thursday that he asked Vladimir Putin to stop attacks on Ukrainian cities for a week due to extreme cold. The Russian president allegedly agreed.
Earlier, military correspondents on both sides of the conflict reported that Russia and Ukraine had concluded an “energy truce.” They said that both Ukrainian and Russian soldiers had received orders to stop attacking each other's energy infrastructure.
