30 January 16:30
In January, surgeons at the Krasnoyarsk Regional Clinical Hospital performed the 200th donor kidney transplant and the 100th liver transplant since the beginning of the organ transplantation program.
The press service of the medical institution said thatThe first important stage in mastering the technology of donor organ transplantation was the successful kidney transplant in March 2014. Since then, more than 200 residents of the region have received donor kidneys.
The next step in the development of transplantation technology was taken in October 2016. Then In the regional clinical hospital, for the first time in the history of the region, simultaneous transplantation of heart, liver and kidneys was carried out on four recipients. TORasnoyarsk surgeons were helped by colleagues from National Medical Research Center for Transplantology and Artificial Organs named after. Academician V.I. Shumakov.
“We have been deliberately preparing for the introduction of donor organ transplantation technology in the regional clinical hospital for several years. The necessary infrastructure was prepared, surgeons and medical personnel were trained, additional resuscitation equipment, instruments, and consumables were purchased. Today, organ transplantation operations in the regional clinical hospital are considered complex but routine interventions,” explained at the medical facility.
In 2025, 12 heart transplants, 32 kidney transplants and 19 liver transplants were performed on recipients in need of donor organs.
It should be noted that transplantation of donor organs is performed on recipients (patients receiving a donor organ) only when the person’s own organs are unable to continue to perform their functions and the person’s life is at risk. Usually patients have several months to wait in line for a life-saving operation, but sometimes the clock counts down to a day. The introduction of medical technology for transplantation of donor organs in the regional hospital gave a second chance at life to hundreds of residents of the region.
