Raluca Turcan criticizes Nicușor Dan for being late in presenting the report on the annulment of the elections

A new episode of tension is emerging on the political scene, after PNL deputy Raluca Turcan publicly criticized the delay of the report on the cancellation of the 2024 presidential elections, a document promised by President Nicușor Dan.

Former minister and leader of the liberal branch in Sibiu, Turcan claims that the lack of clear explanations in relation to this sensitive subject fuels suspicions and has a direct impact on the credibility of the governing coalition and his own party.
In a statement made during a press conference, the liberal parliamentarian emphasized that Romanians have been waiting for several months for solid and transparent arguments to explain an unprecedented decision in Romania's recent history.
“Every day of delay in the presentation of the arguments that led to the annulment of the presidential elections represents a day in which people's mistrust in the current structure of the Romanian state may not increase, but, certainly, the credibility efforts have a smaller effect. (…) And this is a problem, because, from my perspective, I think there are a lot of people in Romania who are waiting to find out, with credible arguments, what exactly happened at the moment of the annulment of the elections”, said Raluca Turcan.
At the same time, she drew attention to the fact that the report's delay comes in an extremely fragile context, in which the level of trust of the population in the state institutions is already seriously affected by the austerity measures and the conflicts in the coalition.
According to her, recent polls indicate a collapse of trust in Parliament, the Government, the Presidency and public authorities, and the delay in the report on the annulment of the elections only deepens this crisis.
We remind you that Nicușor Dan declared, at the beginning of December 2025, that the report on the cancellation of the presidential election would most likely be made public at the end of January 2026, explaining the delay by the complexity of the information analyzed and by the appearance of additional data related to external interference.
“What is certain that has changed is our awareness of this campaign of disinformation and manipulation on the part of Russia. I, as a politician and somewhat informed person, honestly tell you that, before the moment of December 6 last year, it seemed to me that this thing was absolutely peripheral and we realized that it was not. (…) After that, from that moment and from the doubt that, without discussion, a decision like this gave Romanians and our partners about how viable democracy is in our opinion, I think that enough information has appeared to explain that decision”, said Nicușor Dan on December 3, 2025.
