Olympic champion Alexander Karelin presented the project “Choice of the Strong” at the national center “Russia” in Krasnoyarsk

Russian Senator, federal coordinator of the party project “Choice of the Strong”, Hero of Russia, three-time Olympic champion Alexander Karelin came to Krasnoyarsk.
One of the important points of his program was the presentation of the federal project “Choice of the Strong” of the United Russia party to young athletes and coaches, students of sports schools and sections of the regional center.
The development of mass sports and the creation of sports infrastructure is a national goal outlined by the President of the Russian Federation and one of the priority areas of the national program of “United Russia”. The party project “Choice of the Strong” is designed to make sports more accessible, motivate young people for physical development and a healthy lifestyle. To solve these problems, the party joined forces with three martial arts federations (All-Russian Sambo Federation, Russian Judo Federation and Russian Wrestling Federation).
Their best representatives take part in the project: world champions, Olympic champions, Heroes of Russia. The personal example and mentoring of such athletes is especially valuable. “Choice of the Strong” provides more than just physical training for young people. It helps them strengthen their character, form strong moral guidelines, and educates true winners and patriots. Its geography is constantly expanding, it covers more and more cities. And today the project has received a new round in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
The Russian senator noted that all opportunities for the development of the party project in Krasnoyarsk and the region already exist:
“In Krasnoyarsk, methods have already been created that we will rely on in the project. There are excellent sports schools here, the memory of our fellow countrymen is honored and respected. The memory of Olympic champion Ivan Sergeevich Yarygin was witnessed not only in words and decisions, but also in such a wonderful palace named after Ivan Yarygin, where the opening of the tournament will take place today. Also, a recent decision, for which I am sincerely grateful to the people of Krasnoyarsk, is the name of one of the streets of Krasnoyarsk after Buvaysar Saitiev. This is how an active civic position is fostered, history is preserved, and it makes us truly competitive, including on sports fields. I would also like to note that in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, one of the first regions in Russia, the “Zemsky Trainer” program was launched in 2026. Our party project expects to rely in its work on this program to develop sports in the territories, support coaches and young athletes.”
Also invited to the event as honored guests were two-time Olympic champion in freestyle wrestling, six-time world champion, Honored Master of Sports of the USSR, Honored Coach of the USSR Sergei Beloglazov, Olympic champion in freestyle wrestling, three-time world champion, Honored Master of Sports of the USSR, Honored Coach of the USSR Anatoly Beloglazov and Olympic champion in Greco-Roman wrestling, world champion, European champion in Greco-Roman wrestling, Honored Master of Sports Russia, Honorary Citizen of Krasnoyarsk Alexey Shumakov.
At the end of the meeting, the titled wrestlers held an autograph session and answered personal questions from the event participants.
