In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, self-employed people will be able to apply for paid sick leave

On January 1, 2026, an experiment on social support for the self-employed began in Russia – they will be able to voluntarily insure themselves in case of temporary disability and receive paid sick leave. Since the beginning of the year, the Branch of the Social Fund of Russia in the Krasnoyarsk Territory has received 150 applications from self-employed residents of the region.

To obtain the right to temporary disability benefits, a self-employed person must register with the Social Fund and pay contributions monthly or one-time for the entire year. The premium rate is 3.84% of the selected sum insured. Accordingly, you need to transfer 1,344 or 1,920 rubles per month (3.84% of 35 thousand or 50 thousand rubles). When paid once a year, the contribution is 16,128 or 23,040 rubles (the amount of monthly payments for 12 months).

An application for participation in the program can be submitted on the State Services portal, in the “My Tax” application, as well as in the client services of the SFR Branch in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

“A self-employed person will be able to receive sick leave payments six months after making the annual contribution or continuous payment of monthly contributions. The amount of the benefit will depend on the length of service and the period of payment of contributions. When the right to receive sick leave becomes available, specialists will notify the self-employed person about this through the My Tax mobile application or the State Services portal,” the regional Department of the Financial Markets Service reported.

Please note that the experiment being conducted applies exclusively to the receipt of sickness benefits and does not apply to maternity benefits.
