Drug traffickers resort to increasingly sophisticated methods to introduce prohibited substances into Romania, including using international courier companies to mask illegal shipments.
Such a case was recently documented in Vrancea county, where two men were caught while trying to get possession of parcels shipped from Spain, which contained cannabis.
According to the information provided by DIICOT, the investigation concerned two suspects who, during January 2026, would have introduced dangerous drugs into the country in several shipments, fragmented into different parcels, in order to reduce the risk of being detected. The substances were hidden among ordinary goods and foodstuffs, a method often used by traffickers to avoid checks.

On January 25, one of the men, known to have a criminal record, was caught red-handed while carrying two parcels containing approximately 15 kilograms of cannabis.
The investigations continued and, a few days after the flagrant, on January 28, the prosecutors picked up two other parcels, which contained another 15 kilograms of cannabis, which should have reached the two drug dealers, from a work point of the courier company.
Investigations continue, the case being instrumented by DIICOT Vrancea prosecutors.
