Rapid's latest transfer, Brazilian Talisson de Almeida (23 years old), born in Abate, a small town 650 kilometers north of Sao Paulo, gave a first interview for the website of the Giulești club.

It is his first experience outside of Brazil and, like any carioca footballer, he admits that “this was my dream, to get to play in Europe. When Rapid's offer came I couldn't believe it. I was very happy and I told my family about it.

Talisson: “It was my dream to play in Europe”

I never had a moment of doubt that this would be the best opportunity of my life. Then I talked to my managers and told them I wanted to come as soon as possible. I didn't think twice and I'm very happy. When a club like Rapid makes you an offer, you can't refuse it.”

He didn't know anything about Rapid, but “I started to document myself and discovered that it is a big club. I talked to a few friends. I also have a friend who plays here, Conrado (from Oțelul Galați), who told me, “don't think about it, don't think about it, come!”. That convinced me”.

He comes from a poor family, he worked from a young age and started with indoor soccer

Talisson said that “I played futsal when I was little, and my uncle played professional football in Brazil. From him the transition to grass football began. From there I started to like it, but things were not easy at all. I come from a poor family, and my city has only 50,000 people.

I didn't have a lot of options. I had to make ends meet by selling bread and other things, looking for opportunities to be able to reach a city like Sao Paolo at a young age of 12, alone. There were many hard times, but I am grateful to God that I was able to fulfill my dreams.

I didn't play sand soccer. My first club was Red Bull Bragantino. I spent a year with the U20 team, then I went to the professionals and now here I am!”.

A versatile player, capable of playing in any position in attack, Talisson says that “I see coming to Rapid as a very important leap in my career. That's why I feel very fulfilled that I have realized my dream to be here at Rapid. Everyone who plays football with us wants to reach Europe.

It was my dream too and I didn't expect it to happen so quickly. That's why I'm happy to come to a club as big as Rapid for the first time. The objective is primarily to help the team. That way it will help me too. I aim to score, give assists, but helping Rapid is the most important thing for me”.

Talisson won't be able to make his debut for Rapid anytime soon. Being from outside the EU, it will take at least 3-4 more weeks until the Giulești club will manage to obtain all the documents so that he can play for Costel Gâlcă's team.

I met the boys, Leo Bolgado, Dobre, who I was told was at Famalicao. I'm already kidding myself. I don't really understand everything, but I interact with everyone soon
