In Divnogorsk, Krasnoyarsk Territory, the court found the driver guilty of violating traffic rules that negligently resulted in the infliction of serious harm to the health of a child.
The accident happened in August 2025 at night. It has been established that A 33-year-old resident of Tuva was driving a Toyota Corolla Premio with his family from Kyzyl to Krasnoyarsk on business.
“When the driver passed Divnogorsk, it was dark, the asphalt was shining after the rain, and a family with a child, who had come from Novosibirsk on vacation, was walking along the sidewalk towards an unregulated pedestrian crossing. The motorist saw that there was a crossing ahead, but did not reduce his speed. He drove as if the road was empty and at some point did not notice the people approaching the zebra crossing. As a result, the driver hit an 11-year-old boy,” the prosecutor’s office said.
The child suffered serious injuries: a closed head injury, a fracture of the left hip and right leg, a bruise of the right foot, as well as multiple abrasions.
The driver admitted guilt, saying that he was driving fast and did not take into account the road conditions and weather. According to Part 1 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the court sentenced him to one year of restriction of freedom and deprived him of the right to drive vehicles for the same period. In addition, 500 thousand rubles were recovered from him to compensate for moral damage to the victim. He voluntarily transferred the same amount to the family even before the trial – this circumstance was taken into account when assigning the punishment.
