Krasnoyarsk customs officers discovered a stuffed rare Siamese crocodile from a tourist from Vietnam

A stuffed Siamese crocodile was found by Krasnoyarsk customs officers on a Russian woman who arrived on a flight from Nha Trang to Krasnoyarsk.

The press service of the Krasnoyarsk customs clarified thatThe reptile weighing 1.6 kg and 105 cm long was discovered during customs control of the passenger’s luggage.

The tourist explained that she purchased the goods as a souvenir, but did not know about the need to declare and submit permits.

“The examination confirmed that this is a stuffed Siamese crocodile, subject to the CITES Convention. For the legal movement of such goods, the submission of a passenger customs declaration with permits from authorized bodies is required,” the department said.

Two cases of administrative offenses were opened against the woman under Part 1 of Article 16.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (non-declaration of goods) and Article 16.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (failure to comply with prohibitions and restrictions). She faces a fine and confiscation of goods.
