It's a big fight for Jean-Philippe Mateta, French striker with 8 goals in 23 Premier League games this season.
The Crystal Palace star has been wanted by Juventus and Aston Villa but looks closer to a move to Premier League bottoms Nottingham Forest.
Nottingham Forest offered 40 million euros for Jean-Philippe Mateta
The Athletic writes that the “foresters” they officially offered 35 million euros, the equivalent of 40 million euros.
The offer is below what Palace expect, who remain firm in their positions: 40 million pounds (46 euros) or Mateta is going nowhere.
The transfer also depends on finding a replacement for Mateta, the undisputed starter in Oliver Glasner's team. Palace are considering Wolverhampton's Jorgen Strand Larsen.
The Frenchman is not going through the best of times, having only one goal in 12 appearances since December.
Nottingham Forest are looking for attacking reinforcements with last season's top scorer Chris Wood sidelined since October with a knee problem.
They brought in Lorenzo Lucca, but they want another striker
Forest have already transferred Italian Lorenzo Lucca on loan from Napoli this month. Last season, Lucca scored 12 goals in 33 Serie A matches for Udinese.
Sean Dyche's side are 17th, first above the relegation zone. The Foresters have 25 points, 5 more than West Ham.
