Călin Georgescu, George Simion and Nicușor Dan are the politicians who have the highest percentage of trust, according to a CURS survey. However, for each politician the number of those who say they have little confidence in them is higher than those who rate them with some degree of confidence.

  • The survey was carried out on a sample of 1067 people aged over 18. The data was collected by the CATI method January 14–23, 2026. The margin of error is ±3% at a confidence level of 95%.

36% of respondents said they have “a lot” or “very much” confidence in Călin Georgescu, former candidate in the canceled presidential elections of 2024. Conversely, 60% of Romanians say they have “little” or “very little” confidence in Georgescu. He is being sued in two criminal cases in which he is accused, among other things, of legionary promotion or constitutional crimes.

Second on the trust list is George Simion, the AUR president who finished second in the May 2025 presidential election. He is rated with 32% trust, while 63% have a different opinion.

President Nicușor Dan is in 3rd place with a percentage of 31% in the top of the list of trust, while 64% are positioned on the side of those with little trust in the head of state.

Ciucu surpasses Bolojan in the trust list

The new mayor of Bucharest Ciprian Ciucu and PSD president Sorin Grindeanu are tied with 26%. Here, it is worth noting that 13% of respondents said they did not know Ciucu.

Ciucu's party leader, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, is three percentage points behind him, with 23%.

Romanians believe that the country is going in the wrong direction

The vast majority of Romanians (76%) consider the direction in which Romania is heading to be wrong, while only 19% think it is good.
