Animal rights activists claim that horses were beaten with sticks at a festival in the Carpathian region. Police checking

Law enforcement officials informed that representatives of animal protection organizations had received an appeal regarding possible cruelty to horses.

“On social networks, police officers found a video that recorded a competition between heavy-duty horses. The released footage shows how the animals are pulling heavy logs at speed, while a whip is being waved near them and they are beating them on the ground,” the report says.

As reported by the Ukrainian animal protection organization UAnimals, the incident occurred at the “Horses of Boykovshchina” festival, which took place on January 24–25 in Porogi. Equestrian competitions were also held during the festival.

A video posted on social media shows horses being forced to pull heavy wood and being severely beaten, animal activists said.

“We are shocked and outraged – we can’t believe that such cruelty still exists in the modern world. There is nothing fun about beatings. This is not an entertaining spectacle, this is cruelty and mockery!” – stated in the UAnimals statement.
