RO-Alert in Bucharest. “Extreme alert” after the disappearance of a minor / The child was found in a trolleybus

An 11-year-old boy from the Capital was reported missing on Saturday evening. The police issued a RO-Alert message in which they asked for the citizens' help in locating the child. The minor was later found and is out of danger.

Update: The missing child was identified by an STB driver, in a trolleybus of line 90.

“On January 24, 2026, at around 9:00 p.m., the driver of a trolleybus on line 90 noticed an unaccompanied child in the vehicle's cabin. After checks, it was confirmed that the child's disappearance had previously been reported through the national alert system Ro-Alert. The driver acted promptly, calling the emergency service 112 and stopped the vehicle at the “Scola Iancului” station to allows the intervention of the authorities. A police team came to the scene, took the minor and confirmed his identity”, the Bucharest Transport Company (STB) reported.

The trolley bus stopped for about 15 minutes (21:00–21:15), after which it resumed its journey.

“On 24.01.2026, at 18:30, the Capital Police was informed about the disappearance of TRIFU GHEORGHE, an 11-year-old minor from Bucharest, Sector 2. Reportedly: 1.35m, 40kg; black hair; brown eyes; Clothing: gray jacket, blue pants, black glasses. Any information will be sent to 112”, was the RO-Alert message sent by the authorities.

The police announced around 21:20 that the minor was found

“The Capital Police informs that the 11-year-old minor, whose departure was publicly reported during the day today, has been found and is out of any danger,” the law enforcement officers announced.
