In Ishim, Tyumen Region, a team of doctors performed a complex operation on a truck driver who choked on a bone from a crucian carp. The bone was stuck into the esophagus in a dangerous position, and its removal required the highest precision.
As Vsluh.ru reports, citing the press service of the regional health department, a man traveling on the Barnaul-Moscow route experienced unbearable pain after a fish bone got stuck in his throat.
During the examination, the ENT doctor discovered an abnormal situation: the bone was stuck just below the entrance to the esophagus and was located perpendicular to its lumen. This situation created a direct risk of puncturing the wall of the esophagus and the development of deadly inflammation – mediastinitis.
A team of specialists was assembled to carry out the jewelry operation. A surgeon and an endoscopist got involved in the case. Under sedation, doctors carefully removed the dangerous bone.

“A fish dish is a minefield for the inattentive,” one doctor commented. — If you feel a stabbing pain, like a piece of glass, or you can’t swallow water, don’t wait, consult a doctor immediately. Sometimes life depends on the little things.”
The patient now faces a course of recovery.
