The police intervened after they were notified by a woman that her friend was being held by force in a house in Bucharest and threatened with a knife by her ex-concubine, according to the press release sent by the Capital Police on Saturday.

When they arrived at the scene, the law enforcement officers “talked to the woman in question, through the door, who stated that she was safe and did not want the intervention of the Police.”

“The woman's 1-year-old child was also in the house. She communicated at short intervals with the SAS negotiators, threatening to throw herself from the floor if the Police intervened,” the Bucharest police said.

The checks showed that the man in question is subject to a protective order, without electronic monitoring.

“SAS negotiators went to the location. Following the activities carried out, the SAS policemen entered the building and immobilized the man. Also, the woman and her child are out of any danger. The investigations are being carried out by the policemen of the 25th Police Department,” the statement added.

“The tone of the victim's voice told us that there was imminent danger”

During press statements given on Saturday evening, a representative of the Police said that “it was decided to intervene by force” when the victim stopped responding to them.

“We have quite a lot of experience in such cases and the tonality of the victim's voice told us, as well as colleagues from the Special Actions Service (…), that there was an imminent danger, but in this case we have a procedure that allows us to enter the home in order to manage to save the life of the victim in danger – and this happened, fortunately, this evening”, the Police representative also declared.
