The regional Office of Rospotrebnadzor reminded Krasnoyarsk residents of the beneficial properties of beets.

This root vegetable has many beneficial properties. For example, it contains betaine, a powerful antioxidant that fights cell damage and slows down inflammation in the body.

In addition, beets are good for the intestines – they contain a lot of fiber, which forms healthy microflora, improves digestion and builds strong immunity.

Regular consumption of beets helps control weight. It has few calories, but the vegetable gives you a feeling of fullness for a long time.

Thanks to a large amount of dietary nitrates, beets relax the walls of blood vessels and lower blood pressure, and pectin helps remove excess cholesterol.

Just remember that you should not drink the drink in its pure form, as this can lead to a sharp decrease in blood pressure, dizziness and nausea. It’s better to mix it with carrot juice – then the beneficial properties are summed up, and the negative effect disappears,” the Department said.

Experts added that when boiled, the glycemic index of beets doubles, so if you have diabetes, it is better to limit the consumption of the root vegetable. Also, people with high acidity of gastric juice should not get carried away with this vegetable.
