Global warming will cause diarrhea to spread – study
Global climate change could increase the number of hospitalizations due to diarrhea by 2100, even if the temperature rises by 1-2 degrees, scientists from Bangladesh have found.
The scientists analyzed whether daily rainfall, humidity and temperature in Dhaka affected hospitalizations due to diarrhea. It turned out that by the end of the century, hospitalizations due to diarrhea will increase by 4.5%–7.4%.
Children will be particularly vulnerable, with their hospitalization rates likely to rise by 5.7% to 9.4%. Diarrhea is the third leading cause of death among children in the world, so this is a huge wake-up call.
