A permanent US base in Poland? Karol Nawrocki's proposal


According to the station, Nawrocki's proposal is aimed at strengthening NATO's eastern flank and increasing the security of Poland's borders. However, joining the Peace Council comes with a high cost.
As reported, the entry fee for joining the initiative is USD 1 billion. Minister of Finance Andrzej Domański emphasized that the budget plans for 2026 do not provide for such an expense. Additionally, restrictions resulting from Polish law may be an obstacle.

Peace Council and the role of Poland
The Peace Council was established on January 22 during the World Economic Forum in Davos. The founding document of the organization was signed by 20 countries, including: Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Hungary, Indonesia, Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates. Donald Trump, as the initiator of the project, emphasized that the purpose of the Council is to build global stability and international cooperation.
Although Poland received an invitation to participate in the Council, it was not among the founding countries. Prime Minister Donald Tusk emphasized that the decision on this matter will be made taking into account the national interest and security of the country.

— We need more time, information and analyzes to finally make a good decision regarding the Peace Council, in accordance with the Polish constitution and Polish legislation, said Marcin Przydacz, head of the presidential Office of International Policy.
— As the guardian of the constitution, I know the rules. This type of presidential signature requires prior approval by the Polish Parliament and a certain government initiative. It is a matter of prestige for Poland that Poland is invited to this type of body. Due to constitutional issues, I did not sign it, but, as you probably saw, I took part in this event – said President Karol Nawrocki.
