Classes for all school units in Giurgiu County were suspended for the afternoon of Thursday, January 22, due to the polei, at the proposal of the Giurgiu County School Inspectorate (IŞ) and following the decision of the County Committee for Emergency Situations (CJSU).

“In view of the Yellow Code meteorological warning of mixed precipitation and hail, in force on Thursday, January 22, 2026, a short time ago the Giurgiu County Committee for Emergency Situations met in an extraordinary working session, to adopt the decision according to which all educational courses that were to be held in the afternoon in Giurgiu county are suspended”Teodora Nicolau, spokeswoman for the Giurgiu County Prefect's Institution, declared for AGERPRES.
The measure is only valid on Thursday and was ordered to avoid the occurrence of possible emergency situations involving students, teachers and other participants in the educational act, in the current meteorological context.
The CJSU met, in an extraordinary meeting, to analyze the proposal of IŞJ Giurgiu regarding the suspension of courses in the educational units of the county, this afternoon.
Thus, considering the yellow code of mixed precipitation and poles, for the safety of the students, all classes scheduled in the second part of the day are suspended.
At the same time, the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) Giurgiu sent recommendations for all pedestrians and traffic participants to comply with safety measures in conditions of yellow code of mixed precipitation and poles issued by meteorologists for January 22.
