Belgian officials quickly reacted to the information and began to deny the news. “Belgium has not signed the Charter of the Peace Council. This information is untrue. We want a common and coordinated European response. Like many European countries, we have reservations about this proposal,” wrote Maxime Prevot, Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, on the X platform.

According to VRT reports, citing sources in the Belgian government, the White House confused Belgium with Belarus. “We hear from government circles that the White House has confused Belgium with Belarus,” the website reported.

Belarus in the Peace Council

As we wrote on January 20, Belarus was the first country in Europe to sign accession documents to the Peace Council created by Donald Trump. The organization established on January 22 in Davos is to deal with, among others: management of the Gaza Strip. Europe will also be represented in the organization by Hungary.
