It remains unclear whether the other leaders of the host countries, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, will be present at the ceremony.

Gianni Infantino and Donald Trump have a close relationship. The FIFA boss presented Trump with the FIFA Peace Prize at the World Cup draw held in Washington on December 5.

The two were together at the Club World Cup award ceremony in July 2025, also held in East Rutherford. Trump then broke protocol by remaining on stage for the official photo with winner Chelsea before being asked to leave the podium by Infantino.

The presence of heads of state at the World Cup finals is a tradition. Vladimir Putin attended the award ceremony in 2018, and in 2022 the trophy was handed over by the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Trump is not giving up on Greenland

Greenland, an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark, has become a target for Donald Trump, the president of the United States of America. The situation has been tense for two weeks. In one of his most recent statements, Trump continued the attacks:

For 20 years, NATO has been telling Denmark that it must remove the Russian threat from Greenland. Unfortunately, Denmark could not do anything about it
