The day before, information appeared in the media that the man was allegedly a member of one of the religious communities. But investigators have not confirmed this.

“Based on the evidence collected in the criminal case, there is no information that Usoltsev was a member of any sect,” the Investigative Committee said.

Let us recall that it was previously established that on September 27, 2025, 64-year-old Sergei and 48-year-old Irina, together with their 5-year-old daughter, arrived by car from Zheleznogorsk to the village of Kuturchin to go hiking as part of a tourist group in the direction of Kuturchinsky Belogorye. Due to an unfavorable weather forecast, the group did not gather, but on September 28 at noon the Usoltsev family set out on their own, informing the base employee of their route – to Mount Buratinka and back. On September 28, they were seen by female tourists approaching the mountain. On September 29, a colleague wrote to Irina Usoltseva’s adult son and reported that she had not gone to work and that the family was going on vacation to the Partizansky district. On September 30, the young man filed a complaint with law enforcement agencies.

A large-scale search for the family went on for a long time. difficult weather conditions and the maximum capabilities of operational services and volunteers, the active phase was completed in mid-October. In November they resumed, but did not produce results.

Various conspiracy theories were expressed on social networks and the media about the mysterious disappearance of the family, including that they could have fled to another country. But law enforcement officers and volunteer search engines consider the main version of what happened to be an accident, associated with a sharp change in weather conditions in the mountains.
