Peppers are randomly selected every year – I sow these varieties in January and harvest the first harvest in June

Late-ripening varieties of sweet peppers require more time to develop compared to early varieties, so choosing the optimal time for sowing is especially important for them. The article discusses cases when early sowing is advisable, as well as factors influencing the final result.

Late-ripening types of peppers reach maturity 120–140 days after seed germination. If sown late, these plants may not have time to produce a full harvest before the end of the season. As a result, the peppers look strong, but the fruits remain unripe.

Varieties with a long ripening period, including “Black Jack”, “Tsar Saltan”, “Hero's Gold” and “Izyuminka”, are usually sown as seedlings in late January. Thanks to early sowing, the plants have time to develop a powerful root system and strong stems before being transplanted into the greenhouse. In greenhouse conditions, the harvest of these varieties can be harvested by the end of June.

Experts in the field of vegetable growing note that for the successful development of late-ripening peppers, soil quality, effective drainage and constant lighting play a key role. These conditions significantly affect the formation of the root system and the overall health of the seedlings.

Peppers can be grown both in general containers and in individual pots. In both cases, it is important to ensure good drainage and use light, fertile soil. Additional lighting promotes uniform development of seedlings and prevents them from stretching.

In order for late-ripening pepper varieties to produce a good harvest, you need to carefully calculate the sowing time. If the peppers will be growing in a greenhouse and have sufficient light, early sowing may be advisable. But there is no universal advice on choosing the time of sowing. It is necessary to take into account the climatic conditions of a particular region and the characteristics of cultivation.
