The streets of Senegal's capital Dakar were packed with tens of thousands of soccer fans on Tuesday as the “Lions of Teranga” staged a parade to celebrate their 1-0 victory in the Africa Cup of Nations final against Morocco.
The triumph marked Senegal's second title, following their 2022 victory over Egypt in Cameroon, so joy was high for Senegalese fans.

The country's capital was filled with joy as the Senegalese players arrived in the country, after the historic triumph in the Africa Cup of Nations final, which brought the second ever trophy to Senegal.
The players and technical staff presented the trophy from a convertible bus which made its way through the huge crowds in the capital, heading towards the presidential palace. The city center was engulfed in almost deafening noises: revving engines, horns, vuvuzelas and shouts could be heard. Fans were caught climbing billboards and rooftops to catch a glimpse of the African champions, according to france24.com.
Arriving at the presidential palace in the heart of the capital, the country's president, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, told the players that they had “demonstrated exceptional fighting spirit, extraordinary resilience and iron will, and this makes the victory historic”.

The players also received Senegal's highest national honors, while each member of the federation was rewarded with 50 million CFA francs (about €76,000) and a piece of land.

Senegal's win marked the team's second title, following their 2022 win over Egypt in Cameroon, and the team's third final in the last four editions. The match in the last act against Morocco caused many reactions, after the Senegalese left the field following the refereeing decisions. They returned to the field and managed to get the victory, score 1-0.
