I make real tangerine oil at home: I took the peels and vegetable oil – a life hack for the whole winter

If you've run out of tangerine, don't rush to throw away the peel. The bright, fragrant zest can become the basis for a natural flavor that will delight you until spring. All you need is a jar, vegetable oil and a little patience.

Why does this work?

On the inside of the peel there are tiny “pockets” with essential oils. They are the ones who give you that New Year's scent. But on their own they quickly evaporate.

Vegetable oil gently extracts these substances and preserves them, turning them into a fragrant concentrate – without chemicals, dyes or fragrances.

How to cook?

1. Prepare the crusts:
— Use the peel of ripe, fragrant tangerines;
— Wash the fruits well before cleaning;
— Remove large white veins (they can cause bitterness).
2. Place in a dry glass jar and press lightly.
3. Fill with refined oil (sunflower, corn or grape seed) “up to the hangers”.
4. Close the lid and put it in a dark place.
— Minimum for 2 weeks,
– Ideally – for 1 month.
The oil will turn transparent orange and smell rich.

How to use?

  1. In the closet: drop a drop on a napkin – the laundry will smell fresh.
  2. In the kitchen: apply a drop on a wooden board after washing – a light citrus background is provided.
  3. For leather and accessories: lubricate a leather belt or bag – shine + aroma.
  4. Air freshener: add 1-2 tsp. oils into water and pour into a spray bottle.
