A 35-year-old man died of a heart attack, after being sent home twice, during the holidays, when he presented himself at the Braşov County Emergency Hospital. The family accuses that the man arrived with severe chest pains, but the doctors treated him superficially. Following the allegations, the hospital announced it would open an internal investigation.
The man's case was presented by Observator News.
The man's wife claims that he first arrived at the Braşov County Hospital before Christmas with severe chest pains, but the doctors sent him home with “vitamins and algocalmin”.
“10 minutes, they got rid of him very quickly. They didn't consult him, nothing. They said show me where it hurts. He showed, he explained. And he said it was bone pain, from the cold. They gave him a cream, vitamin and algocalmin,” the man's wife told the Observer.
Two days later, on December 25, the man arrived at the hospital again, but this time he was also sent home by the doctors. The man died at home, a week after the last presentation at the UPU, and according to the family, the preliminary medical results show that his heart failed.
The man was the father of two children aged three and eight.
What the Brașov hospital says
On Wednesday, the management of SCJU Braşov sent a statement in which it says that it “expresses its deep compassion towards the family and relatives of the deceased patient following the fulminant and inauspicious evolution (unlucky – no) of an extremely difficult pathology to diagnose”, according to Agerpres.
The hospital says the patient was seen by two different doctors, but both felt he did not show “clinical signs of any condition requiring admission”.
“We confirm that the patient was consulted on December 23 and 25, 2025 by two different doctors, on duty on those days, both of whom considered that the patient did not show clinical signs of any condition that would require hospitalization and, within it, a specific associated treatment,” SCJU Braşov said.
The management of the medical facility also says it will open an internal administrative investigation.
“Taking into account the fact that in this case a criminal file was opened, at the request of the investigative bodies, we will make available to them all the information deemed necessary and relevant. In parallel, an institutional administrative investigation will be carried out, in which we will involve both the Medical Council and the Ethics Commission of the hospital, in order to highlight and clarify the circumstances characteristic of the evolution of the case”, the management of SCJU Braşov sent.
For their part, the Brasov police opened a criminal investigation in this case and are waiting for the results of the autopsy.
“The colleagues investigating this case are waiting for the report to be issued by the forensic medicine service,” said chief inspector Daniel Zontea, spokesperson for the IPJ Braşov.
