In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, police uncovered a fraud involving the illegal sale of a car. The victim of the crime was a resident of Zheleznogorsk, who trusted an acquaintance.
A 44-year-old man, having been deprived of his driver's license, decided to temporarily transfer the Toyota Camry to a 36-year-old friend from Krasnoyarsk. He convinced the owner that the foreign car should not sit idle, and promised to look after it, using it for personal purposes.
“However, having received the keys and documents, the Krasnoyarsk resident disposed of other people’s property differently: without informing the owner, he sold the car to third parties and appropriated the proceeds. After completing the transaction, the attacker stopped answering calls. The damage amounted to 300 thousand rubles. Criminal investigation officers located the suspect and detained him, and then found the car itself – in a broken state in the Irkutsk region. As a result of an accident or careless operation, the vehicle became unusable,” the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
A criminal case was opened against the Krasnoyarsk resident under Part 3 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Fraud on a large scale” and chose a preventive measure in the form of a written undertaking not to leave the place and proper behavior. The maximum punishment that the defendant faces is: imprisonment for up to 6 years.
