Gerus noted that the situation will remain difficult until February 15-20, and warned of possible new attacks that will affect energy supplies.
“The next 30 days will be difficult for us. I sometimes hear that it will get better from January 15 or will get better next week, and at the end they add in small letters: provided that there are no new shellings. But with a high probability there will be new shellings,” Gerus noted.
He added that relief could come from warming and increased solar generation.
“Longer daylight hours are beginning, the sun is higher, solar generation will begin to work better – we have it distributed and have it in many regions, so it will immediately begin to help. And we will feel it – somewhere from February 15-20 in the afternoon we will have more electricity. The next 30 days will not be easy. We need to understand this and, if possible, prepare for it,” the parliamentarian added.
Gerus emphasized that Ukrainians should be aware of the complexity of the period and prepare for it whenever possible. The deputy also advised taking into account the recommendations of local authorities in cases where there is no heat in houses.
“If there is an opportunity and the house is very cold or there is no heating, leaving for a week is appropriate advice,” Gerus noted.
At the same time, the deputy objected that the current situation is the result of a complete failure of preparation.
“A lot has been done, and the situation could have been worse than it is today. And worse is when there are not 19 houses without heating, but 1900, or when we have no light, not 3.5 or 4 lines, but when there are no 5 lines,” he explained.
