There is a shortage of saline solution in Russia. The reason is that it is not profitable for manufacturers to ship the product at a set price.
Several entrepreneurs spoke about the shortage of Mash sodium chloride solution. According to them, the production of saline solution at factories is not growing due to low profitability. It is produced mainly under government orders, since it is a vital medicine and its price is regulated. Due to rising prices for raw materials, production becomes unprofitable.
Now all shipments go to the needs of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Defense. Because of this, commercial supplies are temporarily at a standstill – most pharmacies have had no supplies since about the end of November – beginning of December. The remnants are sold at a higher price than usual: the usual 400-ml bottle costs not 25–30 rubles, as before, but 60.
In most cases, pharmacists offer an alternative – a set of ten ampoules of five milliliters each for 150 rubles. Customers are waiting for the quota to be raised in January-February – then supplies will improve, but the price will increase again.
