Works in the Momaia tunnel, part of section 4 of the Sibiu-Pitesti highway (A1), are progressing at a brisk pace, reports Cristian Pistol, director of CNAIR.

“The specialized systems are being installed in the Momaia tunnel (section 4 of the Sibiu-Pitesti highway)!”, a announced Cristian Pistol, head of CNAIR.

The Austrian builder PORR has started the installation of fire protection systems, installations for the evacuation of smoke and noxes in case of fire, as well as the lighting systems, which are vital for traffic safety.

In the next period, there will be the installation of fire doors at the passages between the tunnel's two road tunnels – two pedestrian and one car -, the application of anti-corrosive paint on the walls of the tunnels and the sealing of the expansion joints of the carriageways.

The physical stage of the works on the Tigveni-Curtea de Argeș section, 9.86 kilometers long, has reached almost 85%.

“At the current pace, traffic on section 4 of the Sibiu-Pitesti highway will be opened as early as this year, earlier than the contractual deadline of February 2027”stated Pistol.
