MEP Rareș Bogdan, former first vice-president of PNL, accused the leadership of the party including that they do not consult with the liberal mayors, despite the “anger” and “desperation” that exists in the territory, and do not come out “to explain to the citizens what is happening”.

Before Monday's meeting of the PNL National Political Bureau in Vila Lac, according to Agerpres, Rareș Bogdan said, among other things, that he wants to know exactly what the relationship is with the USR, stating that some of his colleagues in the PNL leadership are “closer to the USR than to their own party”.

“I want to know why the 12 mayors of county residence municipalities and sector mayors are not consulted, why the associative associations are not consulted because, I understand, Romania has to reduce expenses, Romania has stretched itself more than its quilt,” declared Rareș Bogdan.

The liberal claims that the “tough” measures that our country “needs” can “sometimes be avoided or can be compensated with investment measures”.

“I want to know what is the plan, the investment strategy of Romania. Although everyone is running after resources, after metals, Romania has rare metals, it has lands with rare metals and despite all that we do not exploit anything, neither nickel, nor gold, nor silver. I don't know what we do with them, what do we keep them for?”, he added.

Rareș Bogdan invokes “anger” and “desperation” in the territory

He claims he made the decision to attend Monday's meeting after seeing the “anger” and “desperation” of the mayors and Liberal county council chairmen.

“Liberal mayors, we have more than 1,000 liberal mayors, of whom I spoke to somewhere around 180-200, presidents of County Councils are very scared by the fact that, practically, they are left without the broken down quotas, for some of them, think about it, 40%-60% of the budget is made with these broken down quotas. Taxes have increased, there are those who fight with the people, there are those who I stay among people”, added Rareș Bogdan.

The former first vice-president of the PNL said that he did not come “with warlike thoughts”, but to ask for “clarifications” from the current leadership of the party.

“I want to know why my colleagues who ensure the leadership of the National Liberal Party today do not come out to explain to the people what is happening (…) It seems to me that at this moment no one is speaking. We cannot defy the people. The people voted for us, the people are waiting and have expectations from the PNL”, the MEP also declared.

“I was lied to with special pensions”

Rareș Bogdan also said that he was “lied” regarding efforts to eliminate special pensions.

“I was lied to with the special pensions and they exposed only me and after that they left me in the lurch and made fun of the writing of the law. I see that they also failed to cut them now. There is no need to keep silent, I will continue to speak”, he also declared.
