Paul Ciprian Pintea, the POT senator who falsified his CV, was sentenced to a suspended prison term. The reason for the sanction
The High Court of Cassation and Justice handed down, on Monday, January 19, a final decision in the case of Senator Paul Ciprian Pintea, elected on the lists of the Young People's Party (POT) in the 2024 parliamentary elections. The magistrates imposed a suspended sentence of one year and five months in prison, for driving a vehicle with a suspended license.

The High Court of Cassation and Justice upheld the sentence handed down previously, on June 17, 2025, which provided for the suspension of the execution of the sentence under supervision for a period of two years.
The conviction results from the merging of a nine-month suspended prison sentence, imposed for a similar act, with another sentence of one year and two months, established in March 2024 by the Zalău Court.
In addition to the prison sentence, the judges also imposed complementary measures. The senator will be obliged to follow a social reintegration program run by the probation service and to perform unpaid work for the benefit of the community for 60 days, either in the Zalău City Hall or at the Zalău County Emergency Hospital.
Currently, Paul Ciprian Pintea is also targeted in another criminal case, being investigated for driving without a license. At the beginning of November 2025, he was detected by the policemen of the Sălaj Road Service while driving a car in the municipality of Zalău, although he did not have the legal right to drive.
The senator has also previously come under public scrutiny for irregularities in his resume. Pintea mentioned in “Academic Singles” studies, a dating site, presented as an educational institution.
Also, other problems regarding high school studies and the baccalaureate diploma were reported, later corrected.
