No dirt or expense: I made durable garden paths from what was at hand – they last for many seasons

It seems that neat garden paths require concrete, tiles and craftsmen. But in reality, everything is much simpler. The author of the Zen channel “DOMEO | APARTMENT RENOVATION | REAL ESTATE” (18+) shares three proven ways to arrange a site beautifully and inexpensively.

1. Sawdust – quick and comfortable

If there are already trodden paths on the site, simply fill them with dry sawdust. They:

  • absorb moisture
  • prevent dirt and erosion,
  • exude a pleasant woody aroma – especially after rain.

2. Gravel – reliable and practical

For a long-lasting path, use gravel, but be sure to:

  • make a base from a compacted mixture of sand and clay,
  • lay the gravel in a dense layer,
  • install borders along the edges – they will prevent the material from spreading.

3. Herringbone brick – aesthetics without overpayments

Want a stylish path? Lay out used or new brick in a herringbone pattern. This is the masonry:

  • strong and durable,
  • allows you to play with shades and create ornaments,
  • turns a simple path into a fairy-tale alley.
