
The author of the Ukrainian culinary Instagram blog Ekaterina Motryuk told how to cook juicy and tender lazy cabbage rolls in the oven.
Products for cabbage rolls
- 600 g minced meat;
- 300 g white cabbage;
- 100 g rice;
- 1 onion;
- 1 egg;
- 1 tsp. salt;
- black pepper – to taste.
For filling
- 400 ml tomato juice;
- 200 ml water or broth;
- 3 tbsp. l. sour cream;
- 1 tsp. Sahara; salt to taste.
Preparation
- Boil the rice until half cooked. Let it cool.
- Finely chop the cabbage. If it is hard, pour boiling water for five minutes and squeeze. Finely chop the onion. In a large bowl, combine minced meat, cabbage, rice, onion, egg, salt and pepper. Stir. The mass should be juicy, not dry.
- Form the minced meat into cutlets and place them tightly together in a baking dish.
- Separately mix tomato juice, water, sour cream, sugar and salt.
- Pour over the cabbage rolls until the sauce covers them almost completely.
- Cover the pan with foil and bake at 180°C for 40 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for another 20 minutes until golden brown on top.
