Drivers may begin to be fined for xenon headlights and flashing brake lights, the Shot telegram channel reported. According to the authors of the initiative, such lights blind other road users, which leads to an increase in the number of accidents.

The letter was sent to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Vladimir Kolokoltsev. The author of the initiative, head of the National Automobile Union Anton Shaparin, notes that due to excessively bright light, many drivers cannot use rear-view mirrors, while others complain that they are blinded by oncoming cars, journalists wrote.

This seriously threatens road safety. Another problem is mufflers without catalysts and particulate filters. They make a lot of noise on the roads. In addition, such devices emit a pungent odor and harmful gases. Typically, such changes are made to domestic cars or right-hand drive foreign cars.

For both violations of the rules, the same fine is provided – 500 rubles. However, US believes that this amount does not encourage drivers to abandon the installation of xenon headlights. In this regard, they propose to either deprive people of their rights for using such headlights, or increase the fine to 30 thousand rubles.

On January 9, a new law came into force in Russia prohibiting driving temporarily imported cars. with tinted windows. Although for most drivers the innovations will not change anything at all, in border areas many motorists may receive fines and requirements from the traffic police to remove their tint.
