Trump demands $1 billion from countries to participate in his “peace council” – Bloomberg

According to the document, Trump will head this council and will determine who will be its members, at the same time, all decisions are subject to his approval.

The document states that member states will be able to remain in the “peace council” for no more than three years from the date of entry into force of the charter, with the possibility of extension by decision of the head. However, this three-year limit does not apply to countries that contribute more than $1 billion in cash during the first year.

The “Peace Council” aims to “promote stability, restore legitimate governance and ensure lasting peace in regions affected by war or threatened by war.”

Trump invited the leaders of Argentina, Canada and a number of European countries to participate in the council, and has already formed the first executive team, which includes Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Representative for the Middle East Steve Witkoff, Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has already expressed concern, noting that the details of the “peace council” on Gaza had not been agreed upon with his country. Critics fear that Trump is trying to create an alternative to the UN and concentrate control over finances and decisions in one hand.

The Financial Times reported that Trump wants to create the same “peace council” regarding Ukraine. According to media sources, the group will include representatives of Ukraine, Europe, NATO and the aggressor country Russia, who will monitor and guarantee the implementation of a potential peace agreement.
