Full schedule of Bundesliga round #18
After the resounding victory in the previous round, 8-1 “at home” with Wolfsburg, the Bavarian group achieved a new categorical success. This time, however, the opponent was much more demanding.
Leipzig led at half-time, but then Bayern went on a rampage
In the first half, only one goal was scored, the only goal being scored by Manuel Neuer. The Brazilian Romulo Cardoso opened the score at Red Bull Arena, in the 20th minute of the meeting, beating the German goalkeeper from the small box, after a cross sent by David Raum.
After the break, however, the football machine in Munich did not give the hosts any more chances. Just five minutes after the restart, Serge Gnabry equalized and then goalscorer Harry Kane scored his 21st Bundesliga goal of the season.
Stopper Jonathan Tah increased the difference with a header (83') and Alexandar Pavlovic made it 4-1 two minutes later, completing a simple formality after an ideal pass from Michael Olise.
The end of the match also found Jamal Musiala on the field, one of Bayern's most important players in recent years, who had not played for the Bavarians since the Club World Cup, when he suffered a serious injury in the “quarter” with PSG, lost by Kompany's team 0-2 (July 5, 2025).
He was introduced on the field in the 87th minute, and after only a few seconds, he managed to provide the decisive pass for the last goal of the game, signed by the Frenchman Olise (88').
The result saw the Bavarians collect 50 points and restore a comfortable 11-length lead over second-placed Borussia Dortmund.
On the other hand, Ole Werner's “bulls” remained at the post with number 32, occupying the 4th position in the ranking in Germany.
In the next round of the Bundesliga, Bayern will receive the visit of Augsburg, while Leipzig will perform at Heidenheim's field.
Until then, however, Vincent Kompany's students will face the Belgians from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in the Champions League. The match will take place on Wednesday, January 21, at the Allianz Arena, from 22:00.
