Lightning Strikes Fountain in Wroclaw During Children’s Play

A lightning strike occurred at a fountain in Wroclaw, Poland, while children were playing just meters away. The incident was captured by a surveillance camera, revealing the moment the lightning hit the multimedia fountain located at Centennial Hall, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. According to building administration, the lightning caused “significant damage,” leading to the cancellation of scheduled performances.

A spokesperson for the hall remarked to local media that it was “a huge stroke of luck” that the fountain absorbed the electrical discharge without harming anyone nearby.

This event took place amid an extreme heatwave affecting much of Europe.

Centennial Hall (Hala Stulecia) is a historic building and multifunctional indoor arena, known for hosting sports and entertainment events. UNESCO added it to the World Heritage Sites list in 2006.
