The former president of the PNL Valeriu Stoica stated, on Digi24, that the liberals have been in a closer or more distant coexistence with the PSD for about eight years, and this has created connections and consolidations between the two parties. Stoica explained that Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan doesn't take these into account and that's why the PSD's opposition to the Prime Minister sometimes has support from within the PNL, which is not right.
Valeriu Stoica was asked where PNL stands politically.
“The PNL is after a long coexistence with the PSD. I think that for about eight years, it has been in a closer or more distant coexistence with the PSD. This has created some connections, some interferences, some consolidations. Ilie Bolojan does not take into account these interferences, connections and consolidations. He makes the opposition that the PSD has towards Ilie Bolojan sometimes have support from within the PNL as well, which is not right, because the party would should be in solidarity from one end to the other with what Ilie Bolojan is doing”, said Valeriu Stoica, quoted by News.ro.
He specified that the PNL must not forget Bolojan's contribution, from the end of 2024, when he took over the leadership of the party after the very low score recorded in the presidential elections.
“Because the party should not forget that at the end of 2024, in December, I don't know how much it took in the presidential elections, 8% or how much it had and it was necessary for Ilie Bolojan to come and in two weeks until the parliamentary elections he managed to restore the party's score. The PNL was in a dramatic situation then. Don't forget that Ilie Bolojan's contribution was very important and I think that the PNL must remain in solidarity with Ilie Bolojan. His mission is not easy, but precisely because what he does involves great difficulties. If the PSD does not support him, neither should the PNL support him?”, said the former PNL president.
He emphasized that Bolojan did everything he could under the conditions of a coalition in which there is a state of permanent scandal.
“And I think that Ilie Bolojan did the best he could under the conditions of a coalition in which, unfortunately, the state of permanent scandal exists and in which I think we will find ourselves again this year. Because there is great tension between the PSD and USR, I don't know if it will be able to be resolved, there is not much harmony between PSD and Bolojan either, I am not talking about PSD and PNL, I am talking about PSD and Ilie Bolojan. I think that Ilie Bolojan is a good negotiator. The reproach that that he doesn't negotiate is inaccurate. If he didn't know how to negotiate, he didn't last until now in this permanent conflict within the coalition. There were moments when it seemed like the coalition was exploding, but it's primarily the merit of Ilie Bolojen who knew how to keep the balance,” Valeriu Stoica said.
