What Cristian Tudor Popescu accuses Bolojan of in the plagiarism scandal of the Minister of Justice. “Another technocrat acting like a fat-cheeked politician”

After Ilie Bolojan said that “the things that Radu Marinescu is accused of did not happen during the mandate of the minister”, the journalist and writer Cristian Tudor Popescu reacted with a harsh criticism of the prime minister.
“Now, the Minister of Justice, Marinescu, is accused of massive plagiarism in his doctoral thesis. He defends himself, like all the countless high-level plagiarists after Ponta: the thesis was validated by the competent bodies, by virtue of the norms in force at the time. As with Stalin's method, ni sluceaino, not by chance: it is not by chance that I am being attacked now, when I am involved in the process of appointing the Prosecutor General and the Chief Prosecutor DNA. No act like an honest man: to come out publicly with the thesis in hand, invite Emilia Șercan to the debate (not sue her, as he said he was thinking) and support his thesis line by line. Therefore, for me, Marinescu is guilty of plagiarism”, wrote Cristian Tudor Popescu, in a message published on his Facebook page.
Cristian Tudor Popescu notes that in the case of the “university lies” of the former Minister of Defense, Ionuț Moșteanu, the prime minister stated “without blinking, as if he is not interested in the CV of a minister, but his performance in the government position”.
“You see, any human resources service, before the job interview, studies the candidate's CV, to see if they call him or not – Prime Minister Bolojan doesn't care. And he says to Moșteanu: “Be a man!”, CTP also stated.
The journalist notes that, once again, Ilie Bolojan enunciates this “new principle of ministerial immunity, which he created: once you are a minister, whatever you committed before that does not matter.”
Cristian Tudor Popescu also offers an explanation for the position of the head of government in the case of accusations of plagiarism against the Minister of Justice.
“Obviously, he is doing this so as not to upset the PSD, which immediately jumped to defend Marinescu from all positions. Ilie Bolojan, another technocrat who behaves like a thick-cheeked politician… In order to take tough measures, to fire people, to reform, in short, to cut in the flesh, I continue to believe that not only accounting is needed, but also morality”, the writer concluded.
Bolojan: “I try to evaluate my colleagues by what they do in their ministerial mandates”
On Tuesday evening, in his first and only public reaction so far regarding the revelations made by journalist Emilia Șercan, from PressOne, about Radu Marinescu's doctoral thesis, Prime Minister Bolojan expressed his hope that an independent entity would certify whether the minister is guilty of plagiarism or not.
The Prime Minister stated, on the other hand, that he evaluates the members of the Cabinet according to the activity during the ministerial mandates.
“This morning I had a discussion with the minister. The things he is accused of did not happen during his ministerial mandate. These are things that, I understand, are 15-20 years ago. I try to evaluate my colleagues by what they do during their ministerial mandates. We also discussed previous cases in which ministers had situations that were related to their activities before occupying these portfolios,” said Bolojan, in an interview at TVR 1.
The head of government said plagiarism was a “form of theft” but insisted the decision must be made by an independent entity.
“Of course, plagiarism, in principle, which is a form of theft, is not to be appreciated. This is a general principle that I have always supported and I believe that any rational person who understands the value of work supports it. But I do not have the data to strictly judge this situation. I hope that in one form or another an independent entity will certify whether this plagiarism is real or not. But today Mr. Minister understands that he no longer teaches at the university and that obtaining this doctorate no longer has an effect on his career to him”, said Bolojan, quoted by Agerpres.
At the same time, he specified that the clarification of such situations is necessary for the credibility and authority of persons with responsible positions.
“Any man who holds a public position or who has a position of responsibility, even in the private sector, is performing according to the position and the authority he has. The more we who hold public positions are attacked – motivated or not – and because of these attacks we lose our authority, so the risk of not being performing anymore is quite high. So, clarifying any situations like this is auspicious, in such a way as to preserve the credibility of a person in charge, in such a way that he can exercise its authority and deliver results,” the prime minister added.
A PressOne analysis, carried out by Emilia Șercan, shows that “more than half of the doctoral thesis in Law of the Minister of Justice, Radu Marinescu, is plagiarized”.
