One more step for the acquisition of the correspondence between Mihai Eminescu and Veronica Micle / The “Brâncusi150” call for projects was also launched

The Ministry of Culture announced on Thursday, on National Culture Day, that “the project to acquire the correspondence between Veronica Micle and Mihai Eminescu has entered a new procedural stage”.
The institution stated that “the fund proposed for acquisition includes approximately 400 manuscript pages”.
“These documents have a major value for the national spiritual heritage, through their literary, historical and documentary importance,” the statement said.
The Ministry of Culture stated that the opportunity analysis has been done so far, the price offer was requested from the owner and an expert committee was created.
“Starting today, the team appointed by the Ministry of Culture has moved to the expertise stage by analyzing the batch of five letters sent by the holder, in order to verify their authenticity”, announced the institution.
The ministry said a “fundamental condition of the acquisition of the correspondence fund” refers to “confirming the authenticity and traceability of documents – by correlating historical data, scientific results and information on their provenance”.
“For this purpose, the Ministry of Culture has appealed and will continue to appeal to all institutions with competences in the matter, to ensure a rigorous evaluation process. The goal of enriching – the integration of the national spiritual heritage can only be achieved if each document is authentic,” the statement sent on Thursday, January 15, the date on which the national poet Mihai Eminescu was born 176 years ago, also states.
Details about the call for projects “Brâncusi150”
The Ministry of Culture announced that, also on Thursday, it is launching “Brâncusi150” projects, dedicated to the celebration of 150 years since the birth of Constantin Brâncusi.
The institution described the initiative as “a first step to stimulate creativity and support the cultural projects that will mark, during 2026, this major anniversary”.
“Cultural projects can be submitted in the following fields: photography, decorative art and sculpture, performance art, urban art and alternative forms of education through culture. An applicant can submit only one application for funding”, stated the Ministry of Culture.
A total amount of 500,000 lei was allocated for the session, and the maximum amount that can be requested for a project is 50,000 lei. Eligible projects must take place between March 16 and September 16, 2026.
Funding files are submitted exclusively online, through the www.fonduri-cultura.ro platform, with the deadline being February 16, 2026, 12:00 p.m. The evaluation of the projects, the resolution of any objections and the display of the results will be carried out according to the calendar published by the Ministry of Culture.
