A woman called the police because her father-in-law was being aggressive and threatening to evict her from her apartment.
Arriving at the scene of the call, the crew, consisting of policemen Bogdan and Vladislav, began to conduct a preventive conversation with the man, born in 1956. However, he suddenly went into another room and returned with a gun, after which he sharply aimed at his daughter-in-law and grandson.
“I was saving a child. I saw how the man was aiming towards his relatives, and at that moment I didn’t think about anything else,” said police officer Bogdan.
At that moment, the defendant fired a shot, police say. The shot got stuck in the law enforcement officer’s body armor, and he himself received minor injuries. No one else was hurt.
The man was detained and the gun was seized. Investigators entered information into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations regarding an attack on the life of a law enforcement officer (Article 348 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The defendant could face from nine to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment.
