The US Senate did not block Trump's powers in Venezuela. The President personally called senators

The reversal of the positions of two Republicans, Josh Hawley and Todd Young, was decisive, the publication writes. Last week they supported the promotion of the document, and now they voted together with the party leadership against it.

Both senators reversed positions after intense pressure from Trump, who publicly urged them to back down. The Hill writes that the president also had a series of angry phone calls with those lawmakers.

Hawley and Young said they received personal assurances from Secretary of State Marco Rubio that the U.S. has no troops in Venezuela and will seek congressional approval before any major military operations.

Their votes allowed the Republican leadership to pursue a procedural objection to the resolution. The final vote ended with a score of 50-50, after which Vice President J.D. Vance arrived at the Capitol and with his casting vote finally rejected the initiative.
