In the training camp in Antalya, Daniel Bîrligea, 25 years old, the striker of FCSB, revealed the reasons behind the missed start of the season of the champion of the last two seasons.
He admits that the team was too relaxed, having the impression that “opponents will step aside”. In reality, the opponents wanted to prove that they could fight on equal footing with FCSB. However, he says that no team surprised him, because no one has a consistent lead at the top of the ranking. It conveys that FCSB is still in contention for the title, being “by far the strongest team”.
Due to the course of the summer, FCSB still find themselves outside the play-off places. In the first stages of the Super League, the red-blues lost to Farul, Dinamo, Unirea Slobozia and FC Argeș. At the same time, they were defeated in Andorra, by Inter Club d'Escaldes, then being eliminated by Skhendija from the Champions League preliminaries.
