In the training camp in Antalya, Daniel Bîrligea, 25 years old, the striker of FCSB, revealed the reasons behind the missed start of the season of the champion of the last two seasons.

He admits that the team was too relaxed, having the impression that “opponents will step aside”. In reality, the opponents wanted to prove that they could fight on equal footing with FCSB. However, he says that no team surprised him, because no one has a consistent lead at the top of the ranking. It conveys that FCSB is still in contention for the title, being “by far the strongest team”.

Due to the course of the summer, FCSB still find themselves outside the play-off places. In the first stages of the Super League, the red-blues lost to Farul, Dinamo, Unirea Slobozia and FC Argeș. At the same time, they were defeated in Andorra, by Inter Club d'Escaldes, then being eliminated by Skhendija from the Champions League preliminaries.

VIDEO. Daniel Bîrligea: “The start of the season was, let's say, false”

“The start of the season was, let's say, false. I thought that we would enter too easily, that everyone would give up in front of the championbut it was the opposite: they wanted to show that they have Valais players who can face the champion. We hit the top and that was our mistake. Nobody surprised me.

If there was any team to surprise, they were now 15 points ahead. There are many teams at the top, they are evenly matched and surprises can happen. Even the teams in first place are not sure of the play-offs. We can fight for the title. We have team, players and faith. Until it's all mathematical, we can't say otherwise. We are the strongest team in the Superliga, by far“, Daniel Bîrligea transmitted.

In Europe we still have a chance. We have to focus on the match in Zagreb and then we'll see what happens.
