The prosecutor's office organized an inspection in connection with a spill of hydrochloric acid on a federal highway in the Bogotolsky district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

It was established that on January 10, at 601 km of the R-255 highway “Siberia» The MAZ driver lost control and the truck, which had 16 containers of hydrochloric acid in its back, overturned to the side of the road.

“During the ascent, the car was unloaded. The driver left the scene, leaving the containers in the snow. The day before, 10 containers were damaged, resulting in a leak of about 5 cubic meters of acid. The area is cordoned off and guarded. There is no threat to human life or health; there has been no information about the substance getting into water bodies. The owner of the car – its driver – explained that he was fulfilling his obligations under an agreement with the Lesosibirsk enterprise, where he was transporting this cargo from the Kemerovo region,” the prosecutor’s office was told.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that on the evening of January 14, work to eliminate the consequences of the hydrochloric acid spill was completed. 10 damaged containers were removed from the accident site, and the snow cover was treated with caustic soda over an area of ​​about 300 square meters.

Other circumstances surrounding the incident are being clarified. Based on the results of the inspection, if there are grounds, prosecutorial response measures will be taken. An assessment of the damage caused to the soil will be given after the snow melts.
