Jaqueline Cristian (27 years old, 37 WTA) defeated Daria Kasatkina (28 years old, 48 WTA), score 6-4, 6-0, in the second round of the tournament in Adelaide.
For players from Romania, it is the first victory against the Australian with Russian origin. Apreviously, Kasatkina had won all 3 head-to-head matches.
Cristian reached his fourth victory at the tournament in Australia, after the two qualifiers and the one in the first round. In the quarters, Jaqueline will face Kimberly Birrell (27 years old, 107 WTA)

Jaqueline started the match badly, with a game lost to zero on her own serve. She then broke, but the hesitant development on her serve continued. The incredible performance continued as the Aussie didn't fare any better either, leveling at 3-3 with only games won on the opponent's serve by both players.
From here, Cristian managed to break away, won twice on his own serve and closed the first set, 6-4. The second set was a fierce battle for every point and every range.
