The entire country is under a yellow frost alert until today, at 10:00 a.m., and last night was the coldest since the beginning of this winter season, according to meteorologists. At 07.00 in the morning, temperatures of up to -18 degrees Celsius were felt in most of Romania. The coldest was in Transylvania and the mountain area.

On Tuesday morning, it is bitterly cold with negative felt temperatures across the country, according to ANM felt temperature maps.

According to the data provided by meteorologists, the temperatures felt in most regions fell between -10 and -18, and in the mountainous areas and depressions values below -20 degrees were recorded.

The lowest temperatures felt were in the high mountain area: on the Omu Peak it was -22 degrees, and in the Călimani, Ceahlău, Bucegi and Parâng massifs the temperatures varied between -20 degrees and -22 degrees.

In Transylvania, it was particularly cold in Cluj-Napoca, Sibiu, Brașov and Alba Iulia, which experienced temperatures of -15 to -17 degrees.

How cold it is in Bucharest

In Muntenia and Oltenia, including the Capital area, the temperatures felt fell below -14 degrees. In the morning, traffic was good in Bucharest, but at reduced speed due to the ice.

Moreover, the meteorologists announced that on Tuesday, in the Capital, the weather will continue to be particularly cold, frosty especially in the morning. The sky will be temporarily cloudy and mainly in the afternoon and evening it will snow lightly. The wind will be light to moderate. The maximum temperature will be -4…-2 degrees, and the minimum -8…-7 degrees. Towards the end of the night there will be foggy and drizzly conditions.

What comes next days

According to meteorologists, the weather will warm up slightly from Wednesday, but from the end of the week it will cool down again.

“A more appreciable warming would be on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, especially for the south-western part of the country. There, the maximums will start to tend towards 8, 10 and possibly 12 degrees Celsius. A further cooling of the weather is expected towards the end of the week, when the mass of very cold air from the east will return, which will especially influence the extra-Carpathian regions”, said meteorologist Mihai Timu, on Antena3, on Monday.

“We expect that from tomorrow (Tuesday) to the day after tomorrow (Wednesday) even 10-15 cm of snow will fall, and then, due to the warming, we will not only have snow, but also precipitation in the form of sleet and even rain that will favor the deposition of snow, especially in the northern half of the country. So here we are waiting for a few days, however, with quite severe weather”, concluded the meteorologist.
