Recently, Orlen recorded a record in the daily supply of natural gas to customers – almost 1,149 GWh, which corresponds to approximately 100 million cubic meters. fuel. That's 20 percent. more than the previous record from February 2021, which amounted to 995 GWh – the company informed PAP on Tuesday.

Referring to the current market situation, Orlen emphasized that since the beginning of the year there has been record demand for natural gas in Poland. The company also noted that on January 9 this year, it delivered almost 1,149 GWh of natural gas to customers in 24 hours, which corresponds to approximately 100 million cubic meters. this fuel.
A jump of 20 percent from the previous record
That's 20 percent. more than the previous record from February 2021, which amounted to 995 GWh and an amount sufficient to cover the annual demand of a city the size of Lublin, i.e. over 100,000. households – Orlen told PAP on Tuesday.
The company also pointed out that January 11 this year also recorded a record of its gas imports – it was nearly 770 GWh in one gas day, or about 67 million cubic meters. As he explained, such high volumes are possible thanks to the long-term reservation of transmission capacity – Baltic Pipe, regasification capacity – Świnoujście and in the future also Gdańsk, and a portfolio of contracts for conventional gas and LNG.
Poland above the EU average
An important element of Poland's energy security – as Orlen noted – is the filling level of gas storage facilities, which, despite records in consumption, remains at a high level compared to the EU average – currently in Poland it is 76%. capacity, corresponding to approximately 28 TWh of gas, while the average for European Union countries is approximately 55%.
According to the company, this means that Poland maintains one of the highest levels of reserves in Europe, which guarantees energy security even in periods of increased consumption.
Orlen and its subsidiaries are a multi-energy concern that has refineries in Poland, the Czech Republic and Lithuania and a network of gas stations, including in Germany, Slovakia, Hungary and Austria. It also develops the crude oil and natural gas extraction segment, the petrochemical segment, and the energy segment, including renewable energy sources. It also plans to develop nuclear energy based on small, modular SMR reactors. (PAP)
