Sevilla fans took “revenge” on forward Borja Iglesias (32 years old), after the failure suffered against Celta Vigo (0-1), on Monday evening.
The incident happened after the final whistle of the match Sevilla – Celta Vigo (0-1), when the guests left the stadium. Before getting on the team coach, Ionuț Radu's teammate, Borja Iglesias, went to give the shirt to a friend who was waiting for him on the other side of the police cordon.
Borja Iglesias, made a “damned bastard” by FC Sevilla's ultras
The security staff advised him to wait and suggested that his friend should instead go to where he was, which he eventually did. During this time, Borja Iglesias became the target of Sevilla fans, who hurled numerous homophobic insults at him. “I hope you die!” or “Damn Poponar!” there were only a few of these.

The “Zona Mixtă” agency witnessed the invectives uttered and uploaded a video on Twitter, to which Ionuț Radu's teammate replied: “How strange, something like this never happens in football.”
Borja Iglesias played for 4 and a half years at rivals Betis
But it is possible that the fury of the Sevilla ultras has less to do with the match itself, one in which Iglesias did not shine, and more to do with the fact that he has worn the shirt of rivals Betis for a long time.
More precisely, from 2019 until January 2024, when he was loaned to Bayer Leverkusen, to be then transferred to Celta. First on loan for one season before being sold outright.
Ionuț Radu, “unemployed” notes in the Spanish press
In the match in Seville, Ionuț Radu was an integral player for the visitors. Marca daily rated it with only one star (weak), and AS gave it only one “ace”. Both normally mean “weak”. Only in the Catalan publication Mundo Deportivo the qualification of the Celta goalkeeper was 2 stars (good).
The explanation? AS daily reports that “lacking quality in attack, with Isaac Romero in disastrous form, Almeyda's side struggled to trouble Radu, despite Oso's efforts with some good runs and crosses down the left flank”. So the Iberian journalists gave the tricolor a qualification of “unemployed”.
