Today, US President Donald Trump wrote on his social network Truth Social that Cuba “for many years” lived “on large amounts of oil and money from Venezuela,” but now Venezuela “has the United States.” The head of the White House “strongly recommended” Cuba “to make a deal before it is too late.”
“Those who turn everything into a business, even human lives, do not have the moral right to point the finger at Cuba in any sense, absolutely not in any sense. Those who today hysterically vent their anger at our country do so out of anger at the sovereign decision of this people to choose their political model,” Díaz-Canel wrote.

He also recalled the “draconian measures of extreme harshness” that the United States has applied to Cuba “for six decades and threatens to increase now.”
“Cuba is a free, independent and sovereign country. No one dictates to us what to do. Cuba does not attack; it has been attacked by the United States for 66 years, and it does not threaten; it is preparing, ready to defend its homeland to the last drop of blood,” the Cuban president said.
